Destruction and mayhem

I’m finally back to programming. I’ve been spending far too much time lately reading and dreaming about motorcycles… and waiting for Spring to arrive!

Anyway, today I added the ability to destroy units. Projectiles now cause kinetic damage (velocity² × mass), which is currently way overpowered, but it’s just a tuning issue. Units can have resistances to different damage types, and they have basic hitpoints-based damage system. I might add something more complicated later: it would be really easy with the current damage interface.

It’s becoming a pain to test the game because the controls are horrible, especially for the camera. Also, projectiles aren’t very visible because their size is close to realistic. I’m going to address these two issues next. And today we’re going to have a brainstroming session for the shmup that’s going to be my next project. Everything’s looking fine for game development again.
